High School × Giveaway
I'm so sorry for not updating this space for so long.
Here I am with a new blog post !
SG High School ( Polytechnic ver. )
Friends and families often warn us of certain people to look out for, or tell you about the type of person you'll meet. Many of us don't believe until we encounter one.
Here are a few examples of students I've seen in polytechnic.
1. The one who thinks poly life is similar to secondary school.
No, the lecturers won't ask you to wake up in class. They won't chase you for your homework.
They won't ask you what's wrong if you don't score well. They won't nag at you like secondary school teachers. Some lecturers may say that you can email them if you have questions and they will try to reply within 48 hours. However that never happens. You'll probably never get a reply most of the time.You're on your own. This is where you've got to learn to be independent and be responsible of your studies.
2. The one who says that they don't understand anything but gets GPA 3.8 and above.
This is the kind of student my mum warned me about. Even if you two are close friends or in the same clique, he/she will still be like that. He/she will tell you things like "I don't understand what the lecturer saying also", " oh it's like that, eh, actually I don't know" or when you ask what something meant, he/she will ask you to Google search.( As if Google will explain until you understand ?? )
He/she, who seems like they don't know anything till the very last minute before examinations, end up getting great results. Therefore, pay attention during lectures/tutorials and ask as much as you need. Study smart, seek help from those who can help.
3. The one who changes after entering poly
If you have friends who used to be your very close friend or even your bro / sisters that suddenly changes and stops hanging out with you to hang out with their "cool" friends. Don't be alarmed. It always happens. Some times it may be because they find that they have more common topics with their new friends to talk about. It may be a little saddening but it's okay ! You can make new friends too. You can always Whatsapp and catch up with one another some time.
However, sometimes there are those who leave for "cool" friends because they were influenced somehow and the attention they are having due to rising popularity makes them think you're unworthy to be their friend. Which is pure bullshit. If their mindset is like that, it is them who are unworthy of your friendship. Therefore, don't pull your esteem down. Don't be upset of people who chose to leave. It's their loss.
We all have those times where we are sick and tired of people who leave and get all emotional about it. Instead of doing that, look around yourself and appreciate those who stayed.
4. The judgmental meanies
In poly, there are no uniforms. Therefore, you'll have to wear whatever you have in your wardrobe.
However, don't be stressed about dressing up because. Be it under-dress, over-dress or casual, some assholes out there will still judge. Dress in any way you want, if you feel like dressing up or can't be bothered about it, just do whatever you want. Wear whatever that makes you happy and comfy.
Don't ask why they judge cause I don't know, but, don't let it get to you. Your clothes don't define you as a person. They are just a bunch of shallow people who give shallow comments.

There are always someone who judges you , so don't give a damn about what they say.
